“An Online Degree Changed My Life” says Michelle Smith

Michelle was a housewife. She got married at the age of 23, when she fell in love with the man, who is now her husband. Michelle was never an extraordinary student in school, but she knew the importance of education in life.

As soon as she got married, Michelle was engulfed by a multitude of responsibilities and commitments that often come with a happy marriage. She wasn’t unhappy, yet after ten years of leading a life “in the flow”, Michelle suddenly felt incomplete, she had everything in life, yet something was missing.

Something essential, that she soon realized, it was the sense of self-actualization. It wasn’t money, fame or anything even close to that. Michelle wanted to do something, to make herself believe that she was more than a housewife or a mother. She wanted to prove herself as a person.

Just browsing the internet one day, she came across a website that offered reviews on various online colleges and universities and online degrees they awarded in various professions. So, it wasn’t surprising that at the age of 34, she chose to take an online degree in Psychology – a subject she always wanted to be an expert in.

I asked, “Why online?”

“Why not?” she darted back at me virtually surprised.

“Well, mostly people kinda’…avoid it, think it’s worthless” I rejoined.

She didn’t reply. No, in fact she did, but with just a derisive grin.

Michelle completed her accelerated online degree two years ago and now runs a website on Parenting and Child Psychology.

It was overwhelming to know that she has already accepted a handsome advance from a regional publisher, to write a self-help book for parents on how to deal with rebellious adolescents. She was all too excited about it.

“Wasn’t all this too sudden? Too fast?” I asked.

“True” she said, with a beaming smile.

‘What made it all happen so fast?’ I inquired.

“It was the faculty of my online university that made me realize my potentials; I never knew I could argue, or write a plausible thesis. They made it all happen.”

“When I first enrolled” she continued “I was completely clueless about the nitty-gritty
of Psychology, there were times when I regretted my decision; I thought it was a waste of money”.

“Then why did you choose to continue?” I wanted to know.

“…. I was coming to that point” she said “my personal mentor or supervisor ….thought otherwise, he saw something in me that was worth exploring” added Michelle.

Her teacher encouraged Michelle to carry on with the course; and slowing and gradually, she found her place, learned the ropes and things started to happen.

Today, Michelle is a professional psychologist. Everyday, she receives tons of emails from worried parents from around the world and offers them advice on parenting.

And the best part is, she continues to brag about her gasp on people’s mind!

But now she has the right to call herself an expert, since as she earned an accredited online degree on the subject. It can be acclaimed without any doubt that online
degrees
do matter!
