There are several online schools that offer accelerated degree programs in many fields. These programs can help aspiring nurses to complete their degrees in a shorter time frame than regular programs. However, before signing up for such a program, one should first know about accelerated online degrees pros and cons to help in the decision making process.

Accelerated Online Degrees in High Demand Fields

Accelerated online degree programs allow aspiring students to earn their degrees quickly. These condensed courses allow nursing students to earn their degrees in as little as six months instead of two or four years. In most cases, accelerated online degrees are preferred by aspiring nurses because they can now finish their degrees and enter the workforce much sooner than if they were in a traditional institution.

Advantage of Accelerated Online RN to BSN Programs

Accelerated Online RN to BSN programs offered by many online schools. These programs give current registered nurses the opportunity to maintain their current jobs while pursuing their degrees at an accelerated pace. BSN degrees are also required to earn an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) degree or a master’s degree.

Disadvantage of Accelerated Online Degrees

However, accelerated online degree programs might not be such a good idea for certain fields. With accelerated learning, students are simply doing lots of work in a shorter time which means that they may not get adequate training, among other things. And working adults with full-time jobs and family obligations may have a difficult time fitting in accelerated online degrees into their already busy schedules.
