Online Degrees for Working Moms

The word “working mom” is a definition of “being busy”. Being a working mother is not an easy task and many women find it very difficult to balance their work and responsibilities as a mother. Moreover, if you are trying to build your career at the same time, it can be extremely complicated to manage both your schedule and your personal life.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 26,168,000 working mothers with children under the age of 18, of which only 16% have a college degree. With the advancement of technology, and in particular eLearning, it has become easier for working or single mothers to advance their careers and achieve their academic goals. Online learning is flexible, cost effective, and an ideal way for working mothers to earn their degrees, and upon acquisition of their online degree, they can achieve a rewarding career while balancing their work and their family responsibilities.

As stated by the U.S. Department of Education, 61.3% of accredited online colleges and universities, across the United States, offer online education courses, professional certificate programs, and degree programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, which can be completed entirely online without ever having to visit a traditional school campus.

The online courses and degree programs are offered in diverse subject areas such as health and medicine/nursing, trades and careers, computers and information technology, education and teaching, business, science, arts and humanities, and social sciences/criminal justice etc. Thus, whether you, being a working mother, are looking to start a new career or seeking to earn your associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree, there is an eLearning program available that best suits you. Online college degrees can improve your potential in your current job, or can help you find a new job with high placement rates.

As a working mom, time is an important factor for you. You usually do not have time for hearing lectures and taking test in a traditional on-campus classroom. Online learning programs are convenient and flexible enough to fit into the busiest schedule. You can study at your own pace, during day or night, whenever it’s convenient for you. Further more, online education programs allow you to study from the comfort of your home or office. You can log into your virtual classrooms anytime, anywhere from any computer connected to the Internet, which makes education more accessible for you and provides an opportunity for you to reach new heights of success.

Online learning best suits people who are unable to attend traditional on-campus classrooms. And, working mom’s best fit into this category. Even if you live far away from the school location, you can still earn your degrees without having to commute daily. So you can save time and money, which are the two very important factors that stop working moms from moving ahead in their academics
