You don’t have to read any foreign language or read fast, but you do have to read. Do not skim through the syllabus and other preliminary information. It’s important to read through the syllabus online. Print it out, and read it again. Highlight assignment dates, the mid-term, any papers, and the finals. You can mark these dates on your calendar so that you don’t forget.
Your Equipment
When taking your classes online, ensure that you have the proper equipment and Internet connection. Most often, every program will tell you in advance what equipment and software, if any, you will need.

Skim through the books and reading material that you are required to study during your course time. This will give you an idea of how much time you’ll need to set aside for your studies. Make sure you know how many assignments are due? What kind of research is required? Will there be a paper due? What style is required for citations? Most colleges use MLA or ABA citation styles. Do you have a reference book that demonstrates those styles? If not, now’s the time to check out the library or a good bookstore.

Most instructors will have an introductory first assignment. This gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself to your peers. You can see who else is in your class, you may find a friends or someone with similar interests. Thus, whether its in-person or online, it will makes a class a much more enriching experience.

Log on the first day so you’ll have a heads-up if there’s a problem. Once you’re successfully in your virtual classroom, make the web address a Favorite so you can get there quickly.
