The Use of MP3 Players Enhances Distance Education!

The Use of MP3 Players Enhances Distance Education! The benefits of online education have appealed to hundreds and thousands of people across the world, as a result of which the enrollments in distance education courses and online degree programs have increased rapidly. Perhaps the basic factors which appeal individuals into signing up in eLearning programs are the flexibility of time along with remote access to high levels of education. Well an addition has taken place in the list of benefits of online learning – you can now listen to entire books and lectures on your MP3 players! Now all those who are interested in learning, but do not have the time to attend regular classes can simply grab their MP3 players and download their books or entire classes on it to learn while even being at work! Known as “Learning by Ear”, this trend would help them find that distance education at times presents comfort and efficacy, which can at times not be found in conventional classrooms. Make Good Use of Your iPod! This fact has been realized by academic institutions. What have they done about it? Tidewater Community College in Southeastern Virginia presented an $11,000 grant to its students on the request of Spanish teacher Kathy O’Connor for the students to be able to listen and practice Spanish conversations even when they are not in class. The expansion of learning by ear helps students access their online degree programs, irrespective of where they are or what they are doing. Online learners now have the ability to class notes or lectures and go through the material while they are in the car, eating out, or simply relaxing at the beach. |

Hi. I read the article and think that this a big step in online education. Simplifying access to education materials is very important for a wider reach. I think one of the main benefits lies in the fact that motivating students to check the materials frequently won’t be a problem anymore, since now they can have the quickest access ever.
Students can review their educational podcasts along with their music on one device. Here it would be pertinent to mention the “PPT to Podcast” service offered by authorSTREAM.com, which converts our PowerPoint presentation into iPod format videos. This service goes hand-in-hand with this big step that virtual education has taken by providing the learners better and more comfortable access to education. Here’s the information page on this service:

and here’s a post that I put up with a presentation about the service:
