A research study conducted by USA Today claims that the number of people who use their MP3’s and iPod’s to listen to educational materials is on the rise, and this is a factor that has been noted by manufacturers of such instruments. This fact has been realized by academic institutions. What have they done about it? Tidewater Community College in Southeastern Virginia presented an $11,000 grant to its students on the request of Spanish teacher Kathy O’Connor for the students to be able to listen and practice Spanish conversations even when they are not in class.
