Virtual Commencement – 2008 Launched by Strayer University
Strayer University, a well-reputed and accredited higher education institution, which offers degree programs through its traditional campus and over the Internet through online education as well, has launched its online commencement ceremony that has been particularly designed for 2008 online graduates of the university. The ceremony comes complete with keynote speaker, remarks from the president, and a valedictory speaker along with individual acknowledgment of graduates together with their online degree programs.
In the words of Randi Reich Cosentino, Senior Vice President of Academic Administration for Strayer University, “Our virtual ceremony brings the graduation experience directly into the homes of online students and is a perfect fit for students who have earned their degrees using an eLearning platform. In the years since online learning was introduced, there have been significant advances in how education is delivered, one of which is the culmination of the graduation experience.”
All online students need to do is log on to the internet, access the website and view their virtual commencement from the comfort of their home or office, at anytime of the day. The best part is that they can share this ceremony with their friends and family across the world. Through the virtual commencement ceremony, graduates of Strayer University can listen to and view their names in a diploma format. The virtual ceremony also features the traditional graduation music of “Pomp and Circumstance”.
Dr. J. Chris Toe, Minister of Agriculture for the Republic of Liberia, and former President of the University is the keynote speaker for the 2008 virtual ceremony. The ceremony further features an address by Dr. Sondra F. Stallard, President of Strayer University, who believes, “Earning a university degree is now a possibility for people who previously did not have access to educational opportunities. This includes those living in remote areas and individuals who are required to travel extensively for their jobs, as well as service men and women who can earn a degree while stationed abroad.”
The 2008 virtual commencement ceremony can be accessed at www.strayer.edu all through the 2008-2009 academic year.
